Easter on the Isle of Wight

Easter is just around the corner, leaving you with two weeks of memory-making opportunity to fill with the school holidays. So why not head to the Isle of Wight? It’s full of quintessential British beauty and has its own Island magic. Families can really get away from it all without the drama of the stress of airport queues and the drama of leaving your passport behind.

And don’t forget you can take the kids to the Isle of Wight for free during the Easter holidays (26 March – 19 April 2026). Under 5s always travel free with Wightlink but when the schools break up, you can also take up to two children aged 5-15 for free with every adult or senior foot passenger day return ticket.

Here’s what you can do during the Easter holidays:

The Great Railway Easter Hunt

Follow the clues as you hunt for Easter eggs at The Isle of Wight Steam Railway’s Havenstreet station. If you can find them all you can claim your prize!

Over the Easter weekend itself, make your own Easter Bonnet for the parade and to top off your day, embark on a springtime ride through the Island’s picturesque countryside. Look out of the windows to see ancient woodlands, rolling fields of green, pretty bluebells and more. It’s the perfect Easter treat.

Fresh sea air and sandy beaches

Easter is a wonderful time to explore the Isle of Wight’s coastline. Though it may not be peak summertime, the Island’s beaches are perfect for a seaside walk, rock pooling and simply taking a moment to relax.

You can enjoy huge stretches of sand at Ryde and Appley, ideal for games and paddling when the tide is out, while Compton Bay on the west coast is famous for its dramatic cliffs and fossil hunting. If you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter, hidden spots like Steephill Cove offer a peaceful escape with beautiful coastal views.

Whether you’re searching for shells, enjoying fish and chips by the sea or simply taking in the fresh sea air, a beach visit is one of the best ways to experience the Island during the Easter holidays.

Easter Quest at Osborne

Celebrate the arrival of spring with a family-friendly Easter adventure in the beautiful grounds of Osborne. This seasonal quest invites young explorers to follow a trail through the estate, searching for hidden clues and colourful Easter eggs along the way.

As you explore the gardens and parkland, you’ll answer questions linked to the trail before collecting a chocolate reward at the end. It’s a simple but fun way to keep little ones entertained while discovering one of the Island’s most famous historic landmarks together.

The trail runs daily throughout the Easter school holidays from 10:00 to 16:00. It costs £2 per child in addition to normal site admission, making it an easy way to add a little extra excitement to your visit.

Build a LEGO® masterpiece at Osborne

Put your building skills to the test this Easter at Osborne with The Big Brick Build. Families are invited to help create a giant LEGO® model inspired by the royal estate, adding their own bricks to a growing masterpiece throughout the day.

It’s a hands-on activity that’s perfect for budding builders of all ages. Children can get creative while contributing to a collaborative model, while grown-ups can enjoy watching the impressive structure slowly take shape.

Set within the grounds of Queen Victoria’s former seaside retreat, it’s a fun way to combine creativity with a day out exploring one of the Island’s most fascinating historic sites.
